I have a legal copy of SC/SCBW. I want to be able to run it off my iPod (which is enabled for disk use, so it functions as a 120GB flash drive) while at school -- preferably without the CD and with the latest patch.

CD-less campaign access and downgradability are optional, but would be very nice. Legality is a must -- I'd prefer to do this without piracy, if that's at all possible. StarCraft does not need to be registered/installed to run. But you have to copy a folder where it's been installed to.

Doing that now. Thanks for the help. One question: how well does this run? (In terms of startup time, etc.) Does SC frequently read/write to the disk it's installed on? If it reads/writes often, is there a way to minimize the frequency of these operations to avoid potentially shortening my iPod's lifespan?It should run fine. The loading screen at start up is slightly longer (maybe 1-2 seconds). As for your iPod's lifespan. (Trying to remember what I read.) If a 4gb USB 2.0 is booted off of, and used as the main HD of a computer, it will last about 3 months, if used 8 hours a day, every day - so like 720 hours of use. Playing sc shouldn't have a noticeable effect on your iPod life (unless you plan on playing SC off it 2 hours a day every day for the next 4 years). Occasionally I make a mistake and break the map, but I usually am able to fix it by restoring the previous version and rebuilding from there. Not the most fun thing to do, but in my case, I'm mostly editing triggers, so I just copy and paste the triggers from trigedit of the current version into the previous version and skip ahead a version past the current version and save again.
